Application Process
If you, your team or organization would like to apply for funds from the Josh Whitfield Memorial Athletic Fund, you will need to download either the grant or scholarship application below and submit to the Comstock Community Center. The CCC works together with the JWMAF Board of Directors to ensure the funds are being allocated appropriately. Grants
Who is eligible for a JWMAF grant?
Schools/organizations serving Comstock’s youth athletes (up to 18 years of age) are potentially eligible. (ie. Comstock Public Schools, Eastwood Little League, AYSO Soccer, etc.). Requests must be shown to directly impact and benefit students with financial barriers to participation.
What expenses are eligible for a scholarship?
All expenses related to participation in athletics will be considered. Examples include, but are not limited to related expenses: activity/registration fees, equipment purchases (including required clothing/uniforms), physical examination fees, and transportation assistance.
How do I request a grant for my organization?
Complete the attached Grant Request Form in full and submit it to the Comstock Community Center by the 4th Monday of the month. New funding requests are accepted each month.
Note: Efforts should be made by applicant organizations to ensure that grants requested are not duplicative to scholarship requests by individuals.
How much can I request?
JWMAF has a $1,000 limit per organization for each calendar year. Special requests that exceed that amount may be made and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
How will I be notified if my grant request is approved?
You will be notified via email of the scholarship determination by the 2nd Tuesday of the month following your request. Scholarship payment will be mailed to the address provided by the end of the month in which it was approved. Please be aware that it may take up to eight weeks from the submission of your scholarship request for approval to take place and payment to be issued.

Note: JWMAF reserves the right to verify family information, school enrollment, income information, and athletic participation. If JWMAF is made aware that of improper use of funds, those involved will be disqualified from future scholarship eligibility.

JWMAF has a $200 limit per child for each calendar year.
